Bhubaneswar: There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding health, diet and what precautions one must follow after recovering from COVID-19.

The Odisha government on Tuesday tried to allay these fears by answering a lot of general questions asked by COVID-19 patients post-recovery through its regular televised programme.

Dr. Jayant Panda who took the questions categorically stated that even after recovering from COVID-19, people need to be extra cautious and follow 'social vaccine' including wearing of masks, frequent hand washing and maintaining social distancing as far as possible.

Here Are The Key Points That People Need To Follow Even After Recovering From COVID-19:

Diet- Usually people tend to become weak due to hormonal imbalance. Hence, they should consume protein-rich diet and avoid carbohydrates. Apart from a regular diet, people need to include vitamins and exercise regularly.

Returning To Work: If a person has no or mild symptoms and no weakness, one can resume work after 10 days of treatment and seven days of self-quarantine. However, if a person has symptoms like cold, cough or suffering from headache, diarrhoea or weakness, one must require another week's time for rest/ treatment.

For those indulging in hard manual labour (daily wage workers/ labourers) they can return to work after 17 days if they are asymptomatic and do not have any weakness.

AYUSH Treatment- Yoga is now being practised worldwide. Coronavirus usually affects our respiratory system and everybody knows that one gets immense benefits through Prananayam and other related Yoga exercises.

Home Remedies/ Steam Inhalation: If a person undertakes regular steam inhalation, it helps to clear nasal passage. It is highly recommended even after COVID recovery.

Cold, Cough Persists Even After Recovering From COVID: As coronavirus affects the respiratory system, a lot of people complain of clogged nose, cold, cough, headache, breathlessness even after recovering from COVID. Such people need Antihistamines, breathing exercise or inhalers. They need to consult doctor and undergo pulmonary test and chest X-ray if needed.
