Sambalpur: The District Crime Record Bureau DSP will probe into the killing of youth during a police encounter in the Dengsaragi area under Ainthapali police limits yesterday, said Sambalpur SP Akhileshwar Singh on Friday.
He added four guns used in the encounter from both sides will be sent to the Forensic Laboratory for tests.
The investigation will be supervised by Jharsuguda SP, Singh said.
The probe into the encounter will be done as per the NHRC guidelines and judgment of the Supreme Court in this regard, he added.
Sources said the purview of the probe will look into the circumstances under which the encounter happened. Whether there were other options with the police besides the encounter will also be investigated.
Meanwhile, The family members of the victim alleged that the youth was killed by the police team.
The deceased youth, Raju Saha, was involved in several crimes in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts, said police sources. One Police SI was injured in the encounter.
