Marriage in just Rs 2000: IAS Yuvraj Marmat & IPS P. Mounika choose commitment over show-off

At a time when weddings often turn into extravagant affairs running into lakhs or even crores, a young UPSC couple has set an inspiring example by choosing simplicity and substance over show. IAS officer Yuvraj Marmat and IPS officer P. Mounika tied the knot recently in a court marriage that cost them barely Rs 2000.

The ceremony, held in the presence of close family members, friends, and colleagues, stood out for its minimalism.

There were no lavish banquets, no elaborate decorations, and no noisy bands. Instead, the couple focused on the essence of marriage—commitment, companionship, and shared values. “Marriage is about commitment, not unnecessary expenses,” the couple said, making a strong statement against the culture of wedding extravagance.

Yuvraj Marmat, who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2020, is a dedicated IAS officer known for his work in rural development and public welfare schemes. Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, he has been appreciated for his grassroots approach and people-friendly administration.

P. Mounika, on the other hand, cracked the UPSC exam to become an IPS officer in the 2021 batch. She is admired for her focus on women’s safety, law enforcement, and community policing. Coming from Telangana, her journey to the police service has been equally inspiring.

Together, the duo represents the values of integrity, simplicity, and public service that the civil services stand for. Their choice of a modest wedding has sparked conversations online, earning them respect for living by the principles they believe in.
