Bhubaneswar: The Puri Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court on Saturday allowed the railway police to conduct polygraph test of Subas Ramchandran, the main accused in Puri Railway Station fire.

Public prosecutor Satyajit Sadangi said, “The accused is changing his statement frequently which is why the polygraph test has become necessary. The court has given permission to the railway police to conduct the polygraph test as per the guidelines."

Earlier in the day, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel from Mugalsarai, Gaya and West Bengal interrogated Ramchandran for hours here.

RPF inspector S Verma told mediapersons, “We have come from the RPF side and probing how the train bogies caught fire. Investigation and questioning of the accused are going on.”

On Friday, Ramchandran was brought on a 6-day remand by the railway police.

Notably, a major fire broke out at Puri Station on November 3, in which at least five bogies of three empty stationary trains were damaged one after the other. A high-level probe was ordered following the incident. Four suspects were detained by police in connection with the incident.
