Puri: The Central government has allocated a sanction of Rs 22.45 crore financial assistance to the pilgrim city under ‘Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana’ (Hriday) scheme, said sources.

The state government will use the allocation within a period of four years for development of infrastructure facilities and promoting tourism and ancient sculptures of the city.

Besides Puri, 11 other cities across the country Varanasi, Amritsar, Kanchipuram, Ajmer, Badami, Mathura, Gaya, Dwarka, Waranagal, Amaravati, Vellankanni have been included in the project.
