Cuttack: The High Court on Friday asked Jeypore MLA Tara Bahinipati and Titilagarh legislator Tukuni Sahu to appear before court by August 25 over alleged poll irregularities.

Jaypore's BJD candidate Rabi Nanda, who lost to Congress' Bahinipati, alleged in his petition that Bahinipati had submitted an incomplete affidavit during nomination. He prayed the court to declare the election invalid.

Similarly, Congress candidate Surendra Singhbhoi from Titilagarh alleged against his rival Tukuni Sahu (BJD) of accepting illegal means to win. He said in his petition that irregularities in voting have taken place in 87 polling stations in his constituency.

The next hearing has been posted to September 5.
