Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Wednesday decided to increase the number of seats in +2 and +3 colleges in ULBs and municipal corporation areas by 20% from the current academic year.

Sources said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the seat hike proposal brought by the Higher Education department.

In the government-run colleges where the number of seats are 256 or above, the hike will be only 10%.

However, there will be no increase in the number of seats of self-financing courses.

Earlier, the government had taken a decision to increase the number of seats in colleges in block and NAC areas by 20%.
