Nomination of two AAP candidates rejected in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: Aam Admi Party (AAP) in Odisha has received a jolt as nomination papers filed by its candidates Haravati Gond for the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat and Sublam Santa for the Umerkote Assembly seat were rejected by the Returning Officers here.

Gond alleged that the officials had conspired against her to deprive the APP candidates and she would take up the matter with the Election Commission of India.

The AAP candidate alleged she was not informed well in advance to correct mistakes if any in her nomination papers by the officials concerned.

Official sources said there was only one proposer in her nomination papers when the requirement was ten for an unrecognised state party candidate.

"Lack of adequate number of proposers was the reason for rejection of the nomination papers of both nominees," an official said.

With nomination paper of the AAP candidate being rejected, seven candidates were left in the fray in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat including sitting MP of Congress Pradeep Majhi, Balabhadra Majhi of BJD, Parsuram Majhi of BJP, Gopinath Jani of BSP, Arjuna Bhotra of OJM, Gopal Pujari of Ama Odisha Party and Chandradhwaja Majhi an Independent.
