Koraput: Four maoists, including an area committee member (ACM) and a woman cadre, carrying rewards on their heads surrendered before police in Odisha's Koraput district on Friday.
The ultras, identified as Krishana Praska (ACM), Raju Hikoka, Kosai Wateka alias Nirmala and Durjana Mandangi, worked for Srikakulam-Koraput divisional committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist).
"Each of the surrendered Maoists carried cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each on head. The rebels were in our wanted list since long," said Koraput district Superintendent of Police, Awinash Kumar.
The four had joined the Maoist organisation at different times between 2009 and 2010 and were involved in several red offensives that took place in Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon areas in past few years," police said.
"All the surrendered Maoists had obtained expertise in using arms, preparing and planting explosives. Now they will be rehabilitated as per the prevailing surrender policy of the state government," the SP said.
