Bhubaneswar: Industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra on Wednesday said encouraged by the new industrial policy of Odisha, businessmen of China have shown interests to invest in the State.

After a meeting with M A Zhanwu, Consulate general (Kolkata) of People’s Republic of China here, the Industries minister said the process for Chinese investment will start from February 2016.

“The Chinese officials discussed with us the areas they want to explore in the State for business and investment. They showed interest to work in sectors ranging from petrochemicals to tourism,” Mishra added.

He further stated the Chinese are already doing business here and have won a contract to work on a power plant. “Besides, the Chinese officials talked about an industrial dispute that a Chinese businessman is facing here,” the Industries minister added.

Briefing mediapersons, Zhanwu said, "Yes, I think sector-wise and industry-wise policies are very encouraging. In the past, the Chinese companies did not know much about Odisha. But, in days to come, they would get to know about the policies and incentives and good environment in Odisha. Surely, many would come here."
