3 of a family found hanging in staff quarters in Vani Vihar

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, bodies of a couple and their son were found hanging in a staff quarter in Utkal University premises here on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Brajabandhu Acharya, his wife Pratibha and son Biswajit. Sources said the bodies were found hanging in the garage of G-20 in the campus.

Brajabandhu (52) was working as a laboratory attendant in Statistics department of the university.

According to sources, Biswajit was into second-hand vehicle business. He had taken lakhs of rupees from a number of persons in the name of providing them vehicles but failed to return neither money nor vehicle.

“He was in deep mental agony and so his parents,” a neighbour said adding this could have led the family to take extreme step.

Meanwhile the Commissionerate police has begun the investigation.

“It will be too early to reach a conclusion in the matter. After investigation it will come to fore,” Police Commissioner RP Sharma said.
