Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 positive count continued to fall in Odisha with less than 500 daily cases reported in the past six days. The daily fatalities have also come down significantly since last week.

The State on Saturday recorded 409 fresh positive cases while five more patients succumbed to the virus. With this, the infection tally has increased to 3,20,803 while the death toll surged to 1,765.

As per the latest data released by the State Health and Family Welfare Department today, two deaths were reported from Khordha district and one each patient succumbed to Covid-19 in Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Puri.

Of the fresh cases, 234 are from quarantine centres while 175 are local contact cases, informed the Information & Public Relations Department.

Khordha, which has been witnessing the maximum spread of Covid-19 in the State, again registered a maximum of 44 cases followed by Angul (35), Cuttack (34), Bolangir (32) and Mayurbhanj (25).

The health department has also shared the details of the Covid-19 patients who succumbed during treatment at hospitals during the period.

  1. A 55-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension.
  2. A 79-year-old female of Bhubaneswar.
  3. A 59-year-old male of Jagatsinghpur district.
  4. A 50-year-old male of Nayagarh district.
  5. A 72-year-old male of Puri district who was suffering from Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension.

A total of 41,860 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tests to 61,02,651 in Odisha. After today’s surge, the State’s active caseload stood at 4,320 while 3,14,665 patients have so far recovered from the infection.
