Bhubaneswar/Bargarh: Husband of Handloom and handicraft minister Snehangini Chhuria landed in trouble after farmers outfits accused him in irregularities in paddy procurement.
Durga Chhuria, husband of the minister, who has been working as the secretary of Bargarh RMC, is accused of three allegations. Firstly, he used to supply paddy from traders without procurring the grain from the farmers through market yard.
Secondly, he allegedly violated the guidelines of the cooperative department in the renovation of weigh-bridges which are functioning under RMC. He has been charged with siphoning off Rs 10 lakh in renovation work of 18 weigh bridges.
Thirdly, He allegedly breached the rules of the department in purchasing equipments used to inspect the paddy during procurments.
The General Manager of Odisha State Agricultural Marketing Board KC Rout has been entrusted with the charge of investigation. Rout has been asked to produce probe report before Cooperative minister by September 14.
