Bhubaneswar: With an aim to enhance the train handling capacity between Ambodala and Lanjigarh Road railway stations in Rayagada-Titilagarh Railway Section, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has commissioned modernisation work in connection with yard remodelling by providing additional cross overs and shunting neck in the yard. It has also commissioned Intermediate Block Signaling in the route.
The major benefits include - enhancement of train handling capacity in this route and increase of speed of the trains; and without occupying the main running lines this will make engine reversal system flexible.

The railway authorities have claimed that this particular arrangement would facilitate seamless train operation with MVAA siding and ease congestion in the Ambodala yard. Shunting neck provision in the yard makes engine reversal flexible without occupying the main running lines. Steps have been taken to improve the movement of raw materials and finishing products with MVAA siding of Sambalpur Division, ECoR said.
The modernisation work includes 86 routes instead of earlier 72, points machines have been increased to 34 instead of earlier 31, track circuits increased to 54 instead of earlier 52. This apart, Home Signal has been modified from 120 seconds to 60 seconds and Starter Signal has been modified from 120 seconds to zero second.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar-Bolangir-Bhubaneswar Special would run between Bhubaneswar and Bargarh Road and will remain cancelled between Bargarh Road and Bolangir from both the directions from October 9-18, 2020, because of the modernisation work for commissioning of doubling work between Bolangir and Loisingha Stations.
