Bhubaneswar: A depression formed over southwest Bay of Bengal and lay centred about 1020 kms south of Gopalpur is expected to intensify further into a deep depression during next 24 hours, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said here today.
A latest bulletin issued by the IMD said, the depression may subsequently take the shape of a cyclonic storm.
“It would move nearly northwards slowly during next 48 hours and then recurve north-northeastwards,” the bulletin stated.
Official at the IMD however said, weather would be mainly dry over Odisha. Meanwhile, distant cautionary signal number one (DC-1) has been hoisted at Paradeep and Gopalpur ports.
