Women ransack liquor shop

Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of women armed with sticks and stones today ransacked a foreign liquor shop and torched it near Naharakanta village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

Agitated women armed with sticks and stones demanding closure of outlet barged into the shop pulled out cases of liquor bottles stored inside the shop and smashed them outside.

The protestors said with the establishment of liquor shop in their village, disturbances and fights have increased. It also leads to family disputes.

They claimed to have complained to the local authorities on several occasions but there had been no action so they were forced to take the law into their own hands.
