Two killed, 5 injured as car hits roadside tree

Nayagarh: At least two persons were killed and five sustained critical injuries after the car they were travelling in, hit a tree on the roadside in Daspalla of Nayagarh district late last night.

The incident took place when all the seven persons, residents of Charchara area of Boudh district, were returning from Khurdha after attending a wedding reception. The driver of the car lost control following which the vehicle hit a roadside tree near Jani Sahi, eyewitnesses said.

The injured  were rushed to the Daspalla Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to Bhubaneswar. Identity of the deceased and injured persons is yet to be ascertained.

Excess intake of liquor might have led to the mishap, it is suspected.
