Indian Railways reduces price of 'Rail Neer' water bottles
In a significant move, the Ministry of Railways on Saturday announced a reduction in the price of packaged drinking water bottles sold across Indian Railways. As per a fresh notification issued by the Railway Board, the new prices will come into effect from September 22, 2025.
According to the circular, the maximum retail price (MRP) of ‘Rail Neer’ bottles has been revised from Rs 15 to Rs 14 per one-litre bottle and from Rs 10 to Rs 9 per 500 ml bottle. The same price revision will also apply to other shortlisted packaged drinking water brands approved by IRCTC and Railways, which are sold in trains and at railway premises.

The decision, taken with the concurrence of the Finance (Commercial) Directorate, is aimed at providing some relief to passengers while maintaining uniformity in pricing across railway networks.
The Railway Board has directed all concerned authorities, including IRCTC, zonal railways, and auditing bodies, to ensure strict implementation of the revised prices from the notified date.
