Khurda: Police today detained two persons in connection with murder case of Anjali Dehury, a lady teacher of Haripur Primary School near Nirakarpur in Khurda district.

Khurda SP Dipti Ranjan Ray said Balugaon Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) has been handed over the charges to probe into the matter.

The scientific team along with a dog squad has recovered a bamboo stick from the murder spot, suspected to have been used in the crime.

“From preliminary investigation it seems someone dealt a sharp blow to the head which led to her death. I have called many senior police officers including additional SP, two DSPs and IIC of local police stations to cooperate in identifying the culprits,” Khurda SP said.

Anjali, a resident of Kantabada under Begunia police limits was working as a teacher at Haripur Primary School. She used to stay at a rented house in Badapokharia, about two kms from her school.

According to sources, Anjali returned from her school at around 4 pm in the evening but did not reach home. Her body with a severely disfigured face was spotted lying on a paddy field midway between her house and school.

On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered her body.
