Spurned lover stabs girl with knife

Pipili: A young girl was injured critically after being stabbed with a knife by a youth as she rejected his love proposal at Ekachalia village here in Puri district today.

The incident took place when the youth proposed her to go out with him to which the girl refused. A verbal duel ensued between them following it. Irked, the youth attacked her with a knife.

She sustained critical injuries on her thigh. Locals rescued the girl who was bleeding profusely and rushed her to Balakati Health Centre. They also beat up the spurned lover severely before handing him over to police. 

The youth belongs to Gop area in Puri, sources said.
