Cuttack: The Ravenshaw University on Tuesday closed sine die following protest by student over annual fee hike.

The varsity authorities took the decision after talks with the students, who had been protesting since Tuesday morning, failed.

Vice chancellor Ishan Patro said that the students have been asked to vacate the hostel by 10 pm Wednesday and those who fail to vacate within the stipulated time will face disciplinary action.

He further informed that the decision has been taken to avoid any untoward incident on the campus.

While students demand roll back of the increased fee and withdrawal of the notice for vacating the hostel by May 28, the VC said that there was a need to hike fees and the students have to vacate hostel for its repairing work.

Meanwhile, the students have warned that they would continue their protest till the decision to hike the fees is revoked.
