Balasore: A rogue monkey has let loose a reign of terror in Soro as it has been invading homes and attacking people in Soro in Balasore district. So far over 30 persons including a forest guard has been injured in the attack by the monkey.

The forest department is now flooded with calls and even though nearly 80 staff members of four ranges along with a specialised team of 20 monkey catchers have been deployed, they have failed to contain the simian nuisance.

“I was standing outside my house when the monkey attacked me,” said Harishchandra Giri, an injured.

Locals claim that the monkey has become aggressive after its baby was killed in a mishap recently. Now the animals is attacking people every alternate day in the village.

The frequent attacks have now forced people to spend maximum time inside their homes and others have to depend on sticks.
