Bhubaneswar: Scattered rain and thundershowers are expected to continue over Odisha and along the coastline of Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours, a report of the Skymet said.

Rain and thundershowers were being witnessed in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh as a result of the persisting cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining West Bengal and the trough extending up to Interior Tamil Nadu across these two states.

Odisha experienced showers during the past 24 hours with Keonjhar experiencing 13.5 mm rainfall, Chandbali experiencing 11 mm. Capital city Bhubaneswar and its nearby areas also experienced hailstone showers.

People across the state breathed a sigh of relief as day temperatures registered a significant drop, bringing much-needed respite from the heat wave condition which was wreaking havoc in Odisha.

On Tuesday, Phulbani recorded 35.2 deg C, Dhenkanal 35.2 deg C, Bhubaneswar 34.8 deg C, Chandbali 34 deg C, Koraput 32 deg C and Balasore 31 deg C.

As per Skymet, rainfall will decrease significantly, as the depression is most likely to shift towards the west over Vidarbha and Marathwada, wherein scattered rain and thundershowers will bring some respite from the dominant dry and warm weather.
