Cuttack: Minati and Surendra Sahoo, an old couple from Sisua Baharapada in Salepur area of Cuttack district had almost lost hope of reuniting with their 30-year-old son Prasant who went missing almost eight months ago. However, thanks to a viral video that they are now heaving a big sigh of relief.

As per sources, Prasant who is mentally unsound went missing during a visit to Jhankada Sarala shrine with his parents.

However, after nearly eight months, a video, showing Prasant seeking help to reunite with his parents, is going viral on social media following which his parents have identified him.

"He is a little mentally challenged and used to beat his father and me. I had a wish to visit Sarala shrine for my son's wellbeing. Eight months ago, we all visited the shrine where he went missing," Prasant's mother, Minati said.

His father, Surendra further stated that even though they stayed there for two more days after he went missing and tried to trace his whereabouts, they failed.  "Now from social media we have come to know about our son. We request the administration to help us in finding our son," Surendra added.

Meanwhile, local administration has assured help in tracing the youth and bringing him back to his parents.

"I thank the electronic media for bringing the matter to our knowledge. With help of the legal cell at the block level we will seek local police's help and trace the missing youth. Help of the local medical officer will be taken once he is traced and if necessary, the youth will be admitted to SCB Medical in Cuttack for treatment. If required, the district administration will also be apprised about the matter," Salepur BDO, Manoj Acharya said.
