Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leaders Prasanna Patsani and Tathgat Satpathy and state Congress chief Jayadev Jena were among the candidates who filed nomination papers today for the second phase polls for 11 Lok Sabha and 77 Assembly seats to be held in Odisha on April 17.

These were confirmed by reports from various constituencies as the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) could not provide the number of nominations filed.

Sitting MP from Bhubaneswar, Prasanna Patsani filed his papers for the same parliamentary seat as a BJD nominee.

Similarly, Tathagat Satpathy filed his nomination as a BJD candidate from Dhenkanal constituency which he is representing now.

Accompanied by a large number of supporters, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Jaydev filed his nomination from Anandpur Assembly constituency in Keonjhar district.

BJD leader Ramachandra Hansda filed his nomination from the tribal dominated Mayurbhanj parliamentary constituency as a nominee of the ruling party.

While Forest Minister Bijayshree Routray filed his papers from Basudebpur assembly constituency as BJD candidate, former minister Prafulla Samal filed his papers from Bhandaripokhri assembly constituency on a BJD ticket.

Similarly, former minister Pradeep Maharathy filed his papers from Pipili assembly constituency as a BJD nominee, while Sudam Marandi, who recently quit JMM and joined BJD, filed nomination from Bangiriposi assembly constituency in Mayurbhanj district as a ruling party nominee.

Tomorrow is the last date for filing nomination for the second phase polls.
