Senior BJP leader and party’s Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha candidate, Aparajita Sarangi on Thursday hit out at the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha over lower per capita income, poverty, unemployment and rising migration issues.

“Odisha is a State of limitless possibilities. We have plenty of natural resources and high-quality human resources in the State. However, in terms of per capita income, Odisha is at the 25th spot among 29 states. As per the 2024 report published by the International Labour Organisation, Odisha is No.1 in terms of unemployment among 22 states across the country. As many as 42 per cent of the youths are unemployed in Odisha; BJD has been in power for the last 23-24 years. This is the reason why the number of migrant labourers in Odisha is increasing every year,” said Sarangi.

‘One Trillion Dollars Economy By 2029’

The senior saffron party leader made it clear that employment to every person, irrigation to every land and roofs over everyone’s heads will be ensured if the BJP is voted to power in Odisha.

“We will build Odisha’s economy worth one trillion dollars by 2029. It is our main target which has been mentioned in BJP’s election manifesto. As per the assurances mentioned in our Sankalp Patra, welfare of one and all will be taken care of. We will ensure development activities, improvement in the law and order situation, fight against corruption and all-round development of women. It’s Modi Ji’s guarantee,” said Sarangi.

'Failed To Spend Rs 10,000 Crore Allocated Under Jal Jeevan Mission'

“Under Jal Jeevan Mission, safe and clean drinking water supply will be supplied through pipes to as many as 26 lakh households in Odisha. Centre had allocated Rs 10,000 crore for the State under Jal Jeevan Mission. However, the Odisha government could spend only Rs 4,200 crore till now. It reflects the inefficiency and inactivity of the BJD government. We are committed to accelerating development activities in the State under BJP government. Under PMAY, we will build 15 lakh houses including 10 lakh in rural areas and 5 lakh in urban areas in the State. Though several houses were sanctioned to Odisha by the Union government under PMAY, it could not be executed due to the inefficiency of the State government,” she added.

Sarangi urged people to join the roadshow, to be conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the State party office to Vani Vihar in Bhubaneswar on May 10, in large numbers.

Meanwhile, the ruling BJD is yet to respond to the allegations of the Bhubaneswar MP candidate of the BJP.
