Bolangir: Notorious gangster Sushant Dhala Samanta, who is currently lodged at Bolangir jail, was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) today after falling ill on account of his hunger strike.
According to sources, he is undergoing treatment in a special ward at the hospital and his condition is stated to be stable now. Meanwhile, tight security arrangements have been made outside the hospital.
On March 30, the Commissionerate Police had shifted Sushant from Jharpara jail in Bhubaneswar to Bolangir jail to prevent the arrested gangster and his brother from operating their crime syndicate from behind bars.
Alleging that the cops have trapped him in false cases, Sushant has been staging hunger strike inside jail.
Earlier, Sushant was shifted from Chowdwar jail to Jharpara due to security reasons as he was lodged along with his brother Sushil Dhala Samanta in the same jail.
