New Delhi/ Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his New Delhi residence on Monday.

“I was a minister in Vajpayee’s cabinet and it was a courtesy visit just to inquire about his health,” said Patnaik after meeting the former prime minister.

Patnaik further said that people of Odisha always remember Vajpayee jee fondly and there is no political significance behind his visit.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had earlier arrived at the national capital on Saturday for the Niti Aayog meeting held yesterday.

Patnaik while attending the Niti Aayog meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had demanded to accord Special Category State (SCS) status for Odisha.

Besides, Odisha government had also demanded more central funds and free electricity to BPL families in the State.
