Bhubaneswar: President of the Odisha unit of students’ wing of Congress Itish Pradhan was detained by police today along with 4 more members, for trying to enter Naveen Niwas in a bid to teach Odia language to chief minister Naveen Patnaik.

The student Congress members were seen scuffling with the police holding elementary Odia text books and trying to enter Naveen Niwas.

“Till the time the CM learns Odia, such protests will continue,” said Pradhan.

The act has not gone down well with the BJD members, who have threatened retaliatory action. "The students’ wing of Congress has lost its relevance. Hence it’s trying to hog limelight with such mischief,” said BJD student wing president and Chandbali MLA Byomkesh Ray.

"If they do not mend their ways, they will receive a befiting reply," added Ray.
