Bhubaneswar: Congress and BJP legislature parties are scheduled to meet today afternoon to chalk out strategies on how to corner the ruling party in the State Assembly during the second phase Budget session beginning from tomorrow.
The Opposition parties are likely to rake up minister Sanjay Das Burma’s alleged chit-fund link during the second phase Budget session. Besides, issues pertaining to acute water crisis, sunstroke deaths and nexus between political leaders and persons with criminal antecedents are likely to keep the session stormy.
Narasingha Mishra, Leader of Opposition, said, "The state government has failed to tackle the drought situation. Besides, the State government is helping the criminals. We will also raise corruption issue in the House."
Basant Panda, BJP State president, said, "We want to know why the chief minister is silent on Sanjay Das Burma row. Activities of mafia has also increased in last 15 years. We will ask under whom pressure chief minister is protecting mafias."
Meanwhile, BJD said the party is ready to face the issues that will be raised by the Opposition in the House.
Bikram Keshari Arukh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, said, "The ruling party is ready to face the issues to be raised by the Opposition."
The Standing committee reports will be tabled on the first day. After this, budget proposals of 14 departments will be discussed from April 27 to May 12. Similarly, a proposal for regular budget for the remaining 10 months is scheduled to be tabled on May 13.
Notably, during the first phase of the Budget session from March 15 to March 31, the House had passed an appropriation bill for two months.
