Anandpur: As a matter of concern in Santoshpur village near here, around 50 persons have been infected with stomach ailments. While the exact cause of the disease is yet to be ascertained, it has come to the notice that most of the infected were found with symptoms like nausea, vomiting and dysentery.

According to reports, only Anandpur Hospital has received 14 cases so far after 6 patients getting admitted today itself.

Addressing the issue on priority basis Konjhar district administration has rushed a team of doctors from Fakirpur Community Health Centre (CHC) to the spot.

“Around 50 persons in the block have been found suffering from stomach ailments in Anandpur block till today. While 14 of them are currently under treatment at various hospitals, food poisoning is suspected to be behind the incident,” said Dr Pramod Kumar Behera, Medicine Speicialist in the Anandpur Hospital.

Notably, the matter came to notice after an aged woman Suhagi Nayak died of vomiting and loose motion on Thursday.
