Bhubaneswar: The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has alerted four States, including Odisha, about possible terror attacks by a group of terrorists operating from Pakistan in January, said sources here today.

Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh have also been put on high alert following the warning from the IB that the terror groups are likely to cause attacks before January 28.

Pakistan-based Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) have dispatched four groups to India for carrying out terror attacks in significant areas. The terrorists have already infiltrated into the four States, the sources added.

Meanwhile, Home Department Special Secretary Lalit Das said, “Odisha’s DGP and Intelligence Director have been informed about the situation. All the districts of the state are put on high alert.”

Further, 18 marine police stations are asked to be extra vigilant he said.

High alert has been sounded across all the districts in Odisha. All the SPs have been asked to be on high alert for the possible terror attack, said DGP Sanjeev Marik.

Last year, there were reports that two dreaded Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists had visited Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri, but the State police did not get a whiff of it.

The reports added that IM operatives Tehsin Akhtar and Waqas had stayed for over two weeks in Odisha and toured Puri and Cuttack before Delhi Police arrested them in March last year. The fact came to light after their arrest in Delhi.
