Sambalpur: Even as Odisha stepped up measures to prevent a possible second wave of coronavirus outbreak, as many as 25 students of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) at Burla have tested positive for COVID-19, official sources said on Saturday.

While 24 students had tested positive for the virus on Friday, one student tested positive for the virus today.

The COVID-19 outbreak in VSSUT has now triggered an alarm thereby forcing the district Sub-Collector and other administrative officials to review the situation at the VSSUT hostels.

It is pertinent to mention here that 84 new cases of COVID-19 infections have been reported from several parts of Odisha in the past 24 hours.

Sundergarh district reported maximum of 10 new COVID-19 cases, followed by 9 cases each in Sambalpur and Khordha, Balasore (7), Bolangir (6) and Cuttack (5).
