What Are Municipal Elections?
It is a direct election of people's representatives to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Notified Area Councils, Municipalities and Municipal Corporations which together form the third tier of governance in India.
Where will elections be held?
The ULB elections in Odisha will be held this year at 4437 booths spanned over 106 ULBs including 47 Municipalities and 59 NACs apart from three Municipal Corporations namely Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Berhampur.
Dates Of Polling
All eligible voters can exercise their adult franchise on EVMs to elect their choice of candidates. As per the Election Commission, over 40 lakh voters are expected to turn out to exercise their democratic rights. Votes will be polled on March 24.
Declaration Of Results
Counting of votes in the ULB polls shall be conducted on March 26 and the Results will probably be declared on the same day.

The highest number of 5,045 candidates filed their nominations on the last day. Of them 4,541 nominations were filed for councilor/corporator posts and the remaining 504 for the post of chairperson/mayors.
