Rourkela: A housewife was today arrested on charge of killing her husband by setting him on fire at a local slum under Sector 3 police station limit in the steel city here. The incident took place last night at Kalyani slum in Sector-1 area when 35-year-old Namita Choudhury, a mother of three children, poured kerosene oil on her husband Dilip Choudhury (42) while he was asleep last night.
Dilip was taken to Ispat General Hospital Hospital here with 100 per cent burn injury and he succumbed there. Dilip allegedly quarrelled with his wife and assaulted her frequently, the sources said adding that Namita had recently left for her father`s house due to regular assault on her. She, however, returned three days ago and found no change in her husband.
The woman confessed that she poured kerosene oil on her husband and set him on fire while he was in deep sleep, the police said. Namita was forwarded to jail after she was produced in a local court.
