Thunderstorm alert for 16 Odisha districts; Check IMD’s latest forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rain and thunderstorm activities in several parts of Odisha in next 24 hours.

The IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued a ‘yellow warning’ for thunderstorm and lightning for 16 districts- Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Gajapati.

Apart from thunderstorm activities, the IMD has also predicted heatwave conditions in several parts of the State.

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2022)

Yellow warning (Be updated) Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2022)

Yellow warning (Be updated): Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2022)

Yellow warning (Be updated) : Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Nuapada.

Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 11.06.2022)

Yellow warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal.

Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh.
