The residents of capital city Bhubaneswar woke up to a foggy morning on Monday as a thick layer of dense fog was found to have enveloped the city from early morning.

Due to the blanket of fog, morning traffic was affected with the visibility dropping to below 100 metres. Four and two-wheelers were seen moving along the city roads with fog lights on.

Besides Bhubaneswar, most parts of the State witnessed foggy morning today. Pilgrim city Puri too witnessed a thick blanket of fog enveloping the city. The foggy condition was witnessed from Sunday night and continued till morning. It was so dense that even the Srimandir was not visible. However, braving the cold and foggy weather conditions, pilgrims were seen visiting the temple to have the darshan of the deities.

At the same time, the drop in visibility led to accidents at Gelpur square in Bhadrak town which left all the occupants injured, three of them seriously. The injured have been admitted at Bhadrak district headquarters hospital.

According to the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), foggy weather condition will be here tomorrow as well.

The weathermen warned that shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khordha and Kandhamal on Monday morning.

Similarly, shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Kalahandi on December 27 as well.

At the same time, the weather department has forecast a rise in the night temperature. The minimum temperature (night temperature) is very likely to rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius during the next days at many places in the State. This suggests people feel lesser cold.
