The people in several parts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, got much-needed relief from hot and humid conditions following an intense spell of rain that lashed on Tuesday afternoon.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that there will be no large change in the maximum temperature (day temperature) during the next two days and it is expected to fall by 2-4 degrees thereafter.

The IMD has also issued a ‘yellow warning’ for thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and hot and humid conditions in different parts of the state.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nuapada, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.06.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 20.06.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.06.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 21.06.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi.
