With the Monsoon currently being active over Odisha, some districts are experiencing rainfall, bringing cheers to the face of farmers who were waiting for these spells to start the Kharif cultivation. 

While the weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in Kandhamal, Ganjam and Gajapati districts in the coming 24 hours, it has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning for the rest of the districts. 

The department also forecast thunderstorms with lightning in the state from June 23 to 26. And from June 26, the amount of rainfall is likely to increase.

Meanwhile, according to the weather department, Odisha received 39 per cent less rainfall than normal between the period starting from June 1 to June 22.  

While the situation was severe in five districts, 17 districts received deficit rainfall ranging between 20 per cent and 59 per cent. 
Puri received 71 per cent less rainfall than normal. Similarly, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bolangir and Keonjhar got 68 per cent, 63 per cent, 61 per cent, and 60 per cent less rainfall than normal respectively. However, eight districts received normal rainfall.
