With monsoon still playing hide and seek after its onset in some parts of Odisha, the people are currently experiencing an extended spell of hot and humid conditions.

The overall progress of the southwest monsoon in the state has been slow. However, the IMD on Monday said that the conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 4 days.

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in some parts of the state.

“No large change in Maximum temperature(day temperature) during the next 03 days and a fall by 2-4 degrees C thereafter is expected at many places over the districts of Odisha,” said IMD.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 18.06.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khordha, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Kalahandi.

Hot and humid weather condition likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.06.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 19.06.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khordha, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Kalahandi.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.06.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 20.06.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khordha, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Kalahandi.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh.
