In an incident straight out of a Bollywood movie, a bride chased her groom for about 20 km and dragged him back to the wedding mandap after he developed a cold-feet and ran away from their marriage.

According to a Prabhat Khabar report, the bizarre incident unfolded in the Baradari area under Barabanki police station limits in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district.

As per reports, the couple had been in a relationship for two-and-a-half years. However, on the day of the wedding, the groom did not turn up even if the bride sat waiting at the mandap for him. Later, the bride called up her fiancé, but the latter cooked up an excuse that he was going to Budaun to pick up his mother.

As soon as the bride heard this, she grew suspicious about the groom’s intention and guessed that he might be planning to run away. Without wasting a moment, she chased him and managed to catch him while he was trying to flee in a bus near the Bhimora police station, about 20 km away from Bareilly.

A high-voltage drama unfolded in the middle of the road before the couple made their way back to the temple where their wedding was scheduled to take place.

The couple's marriage was solemnised at the Bhimora temple in the presence of both families.
