Berhampur: An undertrial prisoner today escaped from the jail in Kodala in Ganjam district.

He was identified as J Naryan Patra (30) of Dalibhati village in Khallikote police station. Patra was lodged in the jail in a murder case since December 24 last year, sources said.

Senior Superintendent, Circle Jail, Berhampur BB Mallick rushed to Kodala to ascertain the circumstances under which the jail inmates escaped.

"I am going to the spot to inquire about the matter," Mallick said.
