Bhubaneswar: A panchayat executive officer and an assistant consolidation officer were taken into custody by vigilance officials for allegedly accepting bribe in two separate cases, official sources said today.

Santosh Kumar Jena, Executive Officer, Anantapur and Kusupur gram panchayat, was arested when he was taking Rs 3,000 from Charan Kumar Swain of Jagannathpur district, they said.
The money was sought for giving a report to the local post master recommending release of payment in favour of legal heirs of a deceased labourer employed under the scheme of `Mo Pokhari Jojana.

 Pitabas Barik, Assistant Consolidation Officer, Balasore was arrested while he was taking Rs  1,000 from a complainant of Bhadrak district for returning documents deposited during trial in connection with a settlement in Cuttack on Monday.
