Kolkata: The CPI-M on Friday alleged that Trinamool Congress was behind the latest violence in the Darjeeling hills as part of its `designs` to create lawlessness in West Bengal ahead of the Assembly polls.

"We hold Trianmool Congress responsible for fomenting trouble both in the Maoist strongholds of Jangalmahal as well as the Darjeeling hills ahead of the Assembly elections in the state," CPI-M politburo member and party`s state secretary Biman Bose said here.

Releasing a CD titled `Ashanta Samay` (Time of Unrest) at the CPI-M headquarters, Bose said it had become amply clear that Trinamool had close links with Maoists in fomenting trouble in the Maoist-infested West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia districts.
