India have dropped No.1 Test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin from the playing XI in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) against formidable Australia at the Oval in London starting from today.

Team India management picked Ravindra Jadeja as the sole spin option ahead of Ashwin in the final eleven, while going with four fast bowlers in Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur.

However, the decision didn’t go down well with several fans. They could not keep calm after India’s decision to drop the World No.1 bowler in Test cricket. Many of them took to various social media platforms to slam captain Rohit Sharma and the team management for dropping India’s triumph card. Some others have interesting prospective as well.

“If India Loses, Rohit Sharma will be Blamed for not picking Ashwin. If India Wins, Kohli will be Blamed for picking Ashwin in WTC Final 2021 & not winning ICC Trophies. Had India picked Ashwin & Lost, Dhoni would be praised for picking right players at right time,” wrote a fan.

“Why not Ashwin ahead of jadeja ? Ashwin has more variation than jadeja and capable batter too,” tweeted another fan.

Reacting to Ashwin’s ouster from the playing XI, a third user commented, “If you give excuses of conditions for not picking Ashwin, then Rohit Sharma too can't play in swinging conditions. He should have dropped himself too.”
