Veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane has made a splendid comeback to the Indian team. When everybody had written him off after he was dropped from the national team due to a series of dismal performances, he went to the grind of domestic cricket. After some brilliant performances there, he followed it up with some great knocks in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Subsequently, he made a comeback to the Indian team again for the marquee World Test Championship (WTC) Final against formidable Australia.

Rahane has proved the worth of his selection into the team in the ongoing game against Australia at the Oval. Australia scored a mammoth total of 469 in their first innings total on a difficult pitch. In reply, India faced a batting debacle. They were reduced to 72/4 with all of their top order batters going to the pavilion. Then Rahane stitched together an important partnership of 71 with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (48). Then as per the latest report, he has so far having an unbeaten partnership of 108 runs with Shardul Thakur (36 n o). Before the lunch break, India were 260 for the loss of six wickets with Rahane occupying the crease with an unbeaten 89.
