He has earned huge respect from his fans because of his humble attitude while meeting them outside the ground. Apart from these traits, Kohli’s fitness often draws the attention of people. It is mainly the disciplined life of the star batter that his fans want to emulate in their lives.
Fitness changed Kohli’s life drastically as he soon became the poster boy for a fit India pushing generations of crickets to be serious about their health.
During an interview with Mayank Agarwal, Kohli recounted his realization of being fat and the need to adopt to changes.
“I was disgusted with myself,” said Kohli.
After 2012, Kohli’s transformation wasn't just diet change. It was an all-encompassing shift in mentality. He ditched junk food, overhauled his training regime, and adopted a plant-based diet.
During his interview with Graham Bensinger in 2022, Virat opened up about his diet on normal day.
‘’My meals are basically rice-based, light steamed rice, lot of green vegetables, pulses that we get in India which contains a lot of protein and fiber and very healthy to eat. I also eat infertile eggs.’’
Under Kohli's leadership, fitness became a mantra in the Indian dressing room. The fitness of Kohli was soon reflected on his team-mates as he led by example, pushing his teammates to higher standards and redefining what it meant to be ‘match-ready’.
