EOW raids BJD leader Dilip Nayak's residence in Cuttack

BJD leader Dillip Nayak was picked up by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) after a raid at his Badambadi residence in Cuttack on Friday.

Following questioning and verification of documents, the EOW reportedly detained Nayak.

As per reports, the sudden search operation created a stir in the area, though the exact reason behind the raid has not yet been made public by the authorities.

Nayak is a prominent leader of the Opposition BJD and was the party’s candidate from the Nimapara Assembly constituency in the last general election. However, he lost the election.

As per sources, Nayak was in the real estate business before coming to politics. It is expected that EOW might have conducted the raid at Nayak's residence over some alleged scams in the real estate business.

As per reports, a five-member team led by a woman official conducted the raid and quizzed Nayak for around two to three hours. The officials also checked various documents at his residence.

As per sources, Nayak was also taken to another place and was again brought back to his Badambadi residence. Some documents might have been seized from that place. It is expected that the reason behind the raid will be clear when the officials share details.
