Financial irregularities: EOW raids BJD leader Raja Chakra’s house again

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has once again conducted a raid at the residence of BJD leader Raja Chakra on Saturday in connection with the large-scale financial irregularities at the Gandhamardhan Loading Agency at Suakati in Keonjhar district.

According to sources, a special team led by an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), carried out the raid at Raja Chakra’s house in Jagannathpur. 

The search operation continued for several hours. Besides, another team is reportedly investigating various locations in the Joda mining area.

The EOW is said to have gathered significant information and laid its hands on many key documents during the raids. 

Financial Irregularities

Investigators focus on three companies linked to Chakra and the Gandhamardan Loading Cooperative Society scam. Evidence suggests manipulated transport records, fraudulent documents, and illicit money flow through shell companies over several years.

Assets Seized

Authorities uncovered a ₹25 lakh-Harley-Davidson motorcycle, luxury SUVs, 18-wheeler trucks, and 20 mineral transport vehicles. The farmhouse contained imported furnishings, five-star style cottages, artificial ponds, and stone sculptures. Over 200 bank accounts and suspected benami properties are under scrutiny.

Ongoing Investigations

As of March 6, 2025, EOW continues forensic audits of financial trails while sealing disputed properties. STF involvement indicates possible organized crime linkages. No official charges filed yet, but case details suggest impending money laundering and corruption charges.
