So the long-awaited transition in Indian cricket has started. After a highly successful Indian Premier League (IPL) season, young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has now been picked for the Indian Test team for the upcoming West Indies tour.

Well Jaiswal is expected to be India’s new Test No.3 and he has replaced veteran Cheteshwar Pujara in the Indian Test squad.

Jaiswal’s story has been an inspiration for many youngsters pursuing the dream to be included in the Indian team. From staying in a tent, selling panipuri and later going on to play for India has been an incredible journey for the modest cricketer. After finding coach Jwala Singh, things got on track for him.

His passion for cricket was so much that he used to climb one of the trees of Azad Maidan to see IPL games on a large screen at Mumbai’s Press Club.

Eventually after his selection in the Indian team, Jaiswal is on cloud nine. He has spent nights in bed by visualising himself in India whites, raising both his hands and acknowledging the applause of the crowd.

“This is a moment I have been dreaming all my life,” said Jaiswal after his selection in the Indian Test team.

India are also scheduled to play five T20Is during the West Indies tour and the squad for the same will be announced later. Windsor Park in Dominica will host the first Test match from July 12-16, followed by the second Test to be played from July 20-24 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. The second Test will also mark the 100th Test match played between India and West Indies.

The first two ODIs will be played at Kensington Oval in Barbados on July 27 and 29. The third ODI will happen on August 1 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
